Removing the database implies that you manually delete the content of a folder stored on your Windows drive because the software does not provide a button or something similar to remove the entire database. In order to remove the directory, you should first close the software, then open Windows Explorer or My Computer. With Tools > Folders Options > View > Hidden Files and folders check Show hidden files and folders from the main menu. Then use My Computer navigate to your system partition (usually is C: ) and go to \Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\ACD Systems\Catalogs\120\Default\ (where USERNAME is your computer account) and delete all the files. You will also clear unrated albums from the database by doing this operation. Then start the software again and it will be like new one.

In this program there are several options to organize the photos. It does not tell if it organizes them by date of creation or by date of modification. It is important that when you have 2000 photos and need to organize them by date of creation and later to rename them with numbers. Is it possible to do that with the ACDSee?

The View > Sort > More option allows you to organize and sort your files by date of creation. This is the only filter you can apply.

Is there any way to add icons for the top-level categories? I just purchased ACDsee and I have almost 9000 pictures in my library. The few icons they have are just not enough.

If you can't update ACDSee, the easiest way to get the latest version of this application is to download it directly from its official website. First, uninstall your older version from your computer (Control Panel > Uninstall a program) and then, after the download it ready, access the setup file and start the installation process.

I want to update ACD Photo Manager and ACDSee Editor. Can you help?

P
Answer by Pete Clapp

In order to update ACDSee Editor, navigate to the Help menu and click the Update button. Once the updating files are downloaded, click Install and follow the on-screen instructions. Also, if you have an older version of the program, you can download and install ACDSee Photo Editor 6.0 from the official web page. Its price is around $59.99.

Unfortunately, you can't update ACD Photo Manager anymore, because it has been replaced by ACDSee 18 which comes packaged with tools that allows you to organize, manage and edit your photos. The developers allows you to upgrade the software only to ACDSee 16. If you want the latest version, you will need to pay around $59.99. I suggest you contact ACD Systems International for further information.
